Hot Spa - All You Need to Know

from $7,145.00

These tubs are a high-quality build made from solid Western Red Cedar, by a local Journeyman Carpenter.

2 heavy-duty 3/16 thick stainless-steel bands fastened together with 1/2” stainless-steel ready rod.

Side walls are solid 1-3/4” thick staves. Floor is a solid 1-3/4” thick tongue and groove system.

Eternal Cedar Spas are made from a 100% renewable cedar wood. The wood is harvested using sustainable forestry management.

There are two different ways to heat these cedar barrel hot tubs and the choice is yours; wood stove or electric.

The Wood Stove Heating System

The wood stove heating option is the optimal way to heat this tub if you want to avoid any hydro expenses, or for remote areas that have a limited power supply. The need for power is completely negated with this hook up with the thermosiphon heating system - the pumping action created by rising hot water, eliminating the need for a circulating pump or electricity. This allows a hot soaking tub to be used in a variety of settings including remote off-grid areas.

Operation

The wood fire heating system operates like a conventional wood stove, achieving the fastest heating rate from burning dry seasoned wood. It uses 17-inch length wood, 1-1/2” x 1-1/2” wide, re-loaded at 30-40-min. intervals for fastest heating results. The heating rate is controlled by the amount of air let into the firebox through the adjustable draft in the door, wide open for fast heating and closed down once water is hot.

Heating Rate Information

Although the heating rate is variable depending on dryness of wood, frequency of loading, etc., the average heat output of the wood stove is 47,000 BTUs. A 300-gallon tub can be heated at approximately 17ºF per hour. From personal experience, once desired water temperature is reached, maintain this temperature until you are done. Once finished, if you put the cover on the hot tub, re-load the stove one last time, your water will remain hot tub temperature for 12+ hours without needing to keep the fire going. As your hot tub starts to cool off slightly after the 12-hour mark, a simple 20-minute kindling fire is all that is needed to get your water back up to desired temperature.

Freeze Protection

The wood stove heating system can be used in the coldest climates, great for our well-known Canadian winters. It can be easily protected during freezing temperatures by draining the water jacket after the fire is out.

Electric Heating System

Enjoy the ease of a fully automated hot tub with the electric plug and play heating system. Plug it in, set it and forget it. This hand-crafted hot tub offers an amazing aesthetic to your deck or patio, giving a beautiful West Coast themed eye catch.

Heating system 110/120v and 220/240v capability

Powered by a 120/240v gecko spa heater and a 1/15 HP 48fr pump, this hot tub comes with a 120v GFCI spa cable, so you are able to simply plug into any exterior outlet. No electrician needed. The low voltage option makes this a viable option for remote locations with minimal power supply, or an easy hook up on your patio in town. This electric heat system is also compatible with a 240v power supply; however, a certified electrician will need to run the wiring to your hot tub.
